Ring of Fibre “ROF” is a 140km single mode fibre optic network from Polaris Data Centre to Brisbane CBD in a diverse path. The fibre network has direct access to Brisbane’s major data centres in the CBD and Eight Mile Plains, enabling carriers and partners to have an alternative option to connect to their infrastructure.

The ROF is designed in a single-mode fibre optic ring network structure. It is divided into the main access ring with 720 fibre core and dedicated preconfigured spur in datacentres at Springfield, Eight Miles Plans and Kenmore, which allows for a rapid commissioning of its robust and high uptime guarantee high-value services for corporate customers. Options outside of the existing fibre capacity are available along with build-out options from the network available. Duct rental options are available within the SCG duct network. The Network is actively monitored ensuring immediate fault detection and rapid rectification.

The ROF network spans surrounding areas of Springfield City to support connect points east and west of Polaris Data Centre plus to other data centres in the Brisbane area. The 25-year infrastructure will deliver dark fibre network options for carriers with neutral partners. Utilizing the partnership with Prysmian for the fibre and hardware on the network, Springfield City Group has developed a new way to bring the latest technology into the region.

Springfield City Group has designed the Network in partnership with Torus Networks and have Torus delivering the construction and operational management obligations. The fibre network, with its high core capacity, is aimed to provide cost effective, right capacity dark fibre solutions to carriers and end users.

Polaris’ extensive knowledge on fibre deployments, has created a new standard in connectivity in QLD for the carrier market and driving an additional option out of the metro fibre zones. With secure pit locks and state of the art monitoring, the fibre optic network is more controlled and protected than anything created before in Springfield and surrounds.
