St Peters Lutheran College Springfield was excited to announce the completion of the first stage of its new three story Junior High precinct this week.

Campus renovations started during last year’s Easter holidays and were completed on schedule, ready for students to enjoy from Term Two, 2020.

A ‘rich and authentic sense of community’ and the College’s Plus Ultra (ever higher) motto is said to have served as inspiration for the new building design.

Level One of the Junior High precinct consists of three general classrooms, plus an iSTEAM (innovation, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) laboratory, staff room, staff offices, student lockers, a kitchen and gallery area.

The classrooms can also open up to create larger learning spaces and are connected to external courtyards. There is also a large internal, flexible learning area, designed to be used as an agile space for individual or collaborative learning as well as for bringing the Junior High community together.

On Level Two there are a further three general classrooms and a large project-based learning space, with several break-out spaces and additional student lockers.

Finally, the new development also has a ground level undercroft for future development into classrooms and amenities and has been designed with the notion of a ‘campfire’ or community gathering in mind.

Demand for school growth follows the immense, continued growth of Greater Springfield – with projections indicating that Greater Springfield will be home to 115,000 by 2036, with an average growth rate of 5.8% per annum.

St Peters Lutheran College Springfield first opened in 2008 as a Prep to Year 8 school and by 2012 had progressed to a Prep to Year 12 offering.

In that same year, the College moved from its location on Education City Drive, Springfield Central to its current and permanent site on Wellness Way in Health City, Springfield Central.

St Peters Lutheran Kindergarten opened its doors in January 2013 and today, the College boasts over 600 students, providing the Greater Springfield community with a comprehensive learning journey on the one site.

Springfield City Group would like to congratulate St Peters Lutheran College Springfield on another exciting milestone and looks forward to seeing the continued growth of the school over the next few years.
