Mater marks a new milestone in Springfield with the opening of its first purpose-built education, health and wellbeing centre in October
Mater Health Hub Springfield Central, located at Southern Cross Circuit, will deliver a suite of medical specialties and a range of allied health services focused on women and families.
It will also be home to Mater Education campus, complete with state-of-the-art classrooms and simulation labs.
Mater has been part of the Greater Springfield community since 2015 when it opened Mater Private Hospital Springfield, but population expansion and rapid growth in the region calls for expanded healthcare services.
In a landmark partnership with the State Government, Mater is expanding its existing Springfield hospital to deliver services to public and private patients. Construction is already underway with the new, expanded hospital expected to be open in early 2026.
The hospital development includes an Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and Mater Mothers’ nationally acclaimed maternity services and will deliver 228 beds for public and private patients.
Mater Health Hub Springfield, is designed to complement existing services in the community and is responding to increasing consumer demand for greater access to health and wellbeing services outside a clinical setting.
The new facility will house consultancy suites for a wide range of specialties including Anaesthetics, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Endocrinology, Maxillofacial, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Plastics, Respiratory, Urology and Vascular.
Other services delivered by Mater’s Health Integration and Community Care team will offer a range of allied health services specifically focused on mothers and babies, women’s health, cancer care, chronic disease management and healthy ageing.
For the first time, Mater Education will deliver the Diploma of Nursing course in Springfield – fee-free in October 2023 – along with several career-ready certifications and qualifications.
Dedicated to growing the next generation of healthcare workers, Mater Education is Australia’s only nationally accredited, independent, hospital-based Registered state-of-the-art simulation technologies.
Students of Mater Education’s 18-month Diploma of Nursing course will gain hands-on real-life experience during placements at the nearby Mater Private Hospital Springfield.
Mater Pathology is also conveniently located at Mater Health Hub Springfield, providing 24-hour analytical and consultative services for Springfield patients and clinicians.
Mater’s investment in Greater Springfield ensures the community continues to have access to contemporary, innovative and high-quality healthcare services – now and into the future.
