The Springfield Anglican College (TSAC) is proud to announce the launch of the TSAC Basketball Club, a new initiative in partnership with the Greater Springfield Basketball Association (GSBA) the Greater Springfield Pioneers.
This exciting venture will provide TSAC students with an alternative elite sports pathway, in line with the school’s pursuit of an attitude of excellence.
Starting in February 2025, TSAC will offer club-level basketball, complementing its existing involvement in Greater Brisbane Conference (GBC) sport. The TSAC Basketball Club will compete as part of the Greater Springfield Basketball Association Competition, providing opportunities for local athletes to represent their school year-round in teams ranging from Under 12 to Under 18. The Club will play its home games at the newly built state-of-the-art TSAC Sports Centre.
The TSAC Basketball Club will provide students with access to elite player, coaching, and officiating pathways, offering high-level training and education to support the development of future sports leaders.
Mr Steven Morris, Principal, The Springfield Anglican College, says, “We are excited to partner with the Greater Springfield Basketball Association, a local organisation that shares our values and commitment to excellence.
“The affiliation with Greater Springfield Basketball Association’s Pioneers offers a pathway to the state league program, with the potential for players to compete against teams across South East Queensland and advance to state championships.
“With a year-round competition, and opportunities for all skill levels, the TSAC Basketball Club welcomes everyone to build their skills and represent their school in a supportive and inclusive environment.”
June Tahata, CEO of the Greater Springfield Basketball Association, expressed her enthusiasm for this collaboration, saying, “TSAC is the first school we have partnered with, and we are excited to build grassroots community connections through sports. The Pioneers are focused on providing healthy opportunities for children, connecting schools, and fostering a positive culture based on perseverance, faith, trust, and belief.”
The TSAC Sports Centre, set to open in early 2025, will be a state-of-the-art venue for local athletes, unmatched by any other facility in the Greater Springfield area. This new addition is expected to elevate the community’s sporting experience to new heights.
A sign-on day for the TSAC Basketball Club will be held in November 2024 at the TSAC Sports Centre, where students can learn more about this exciting opportunity and register their interest.
