With sports such as soccer, tennis, swimming, golf, canoeing, netball and more on offer around the area, there’s always room for new players in Greater Springfield. 

The sporting community within the region is continually growing as a result of the development of the Springfield Central Sporting Complex. Discover what Greater Springfield has to offer you within the following sporting venues, facilities, and clubs. 

Springfield Central Sports Complex 

Springfield Central Sports Complex has been developed to meet the need of a growing community within Greater Springfield. The newly developed facility hosts; 4 mixed-used ovals, 8 sports fields, 16 netball courts, 8 tennis courts and 3 clubhouses. Majority of sporting clubs within the region are now located at this facility: 

  • Springfield United Football Club 
  • Springfield Lakes Netball 
  • South West Wildcats Netball 
  • Greater Springfield Sports (AFL & Cricket) 

The complex is also host to many other recreational facilities, including playground equipment, recreational pathways, BBQ’s, public toilets and car parking facilities. 

Brookwater Golf & Country Club

Greater Springfield is home to the Brookwater Golf & Country Club, which is the regions primary club for all ranges of golfers. Immerse yourself in a premium golf experience and optional extras.

Brisbane Lion’s AFL Stadium 

Greater Springfield’s newest purpose-built $70 million dollar Brighton Homes Arena – Springfield Central Stadium is home to the Brisbane Lions. With up to 10,000 spectator seats and modern amenities, the stadium will provide a high-performance sports centre for men’s and women’s teams.
This new purpose-built training and administration facility is the home ground for Brisbane Lions AFLW Team and VFL Team and offers state-of-the-art training and rehab facilities including the second-largest indoor kick room in the competition, as well as a health and wellness club and café open to the public.

Sports Clubs 

Springfield United Football Club 

Springfield’s local soccer club is Springfield United Football Club. The club is affiliated with Football Queensland and participates in both junior and senior football competitions. 

Juniors range from under 6’s to u16’s. 

Seniors play within skill-based competitions U18’s and above.

Springfield Lakes Netball Club 

Springfield’s local netball club hosts a range of teams, ageing from 5 years to 18 years of age. Springfield Lakes Netball Club is a fantastic local sports club which operates from February through to September.

Greater Springfield Cricket Club 

Together with Queensland Cricket, Greater Springfield Sports has created an excellent cricket program, suitable for both junior and senior players. The club is growing in popularity and catering for all ages. Greater Springfield Auskick & Junior AFL 

The Greater Springfield sports club offers AFL training and games under two programs: AusKick and Junior AFL. The Greater Springfield AusKick program operates in centres throughout the country and offers weekly coaching sessions for boys and girls. 

For players aged 12-14, the focus of Auskick turns to developing skills and tactics, while continuing to enjoy fun and safe play of the game. 

For 16-18-year-old players, these skills are developed further into the professional level.
